Jacinthe Durand
Artistic field : multidisciplinary artist
Bio
Jacinthe Durand (Saint-Lazare resident) is a multidisciplinary artist (sculpture, drawing, painting, calligraphy and digital images).
She has evolved in the world of images through a long career as a graphic designer and art director, illustrator and teacher (graphic design, typography, illustration, observational drawing and life modeling at Collège Salette in Montreal).
She holds a DEC in human sciences and an attestation in visual arts, and then went on to study visual arts teaching at UQAM. Other courses have been added to her C.V. (digital graphic design and illustration at Collège Salette).
Her curiosity led her to pursue her apprenticeships with continuing education courses: private lessons in photography, silkscreen printing, illumination and calligraphy, editing software, introduction to 4D cinema, introduction to AI.
She has also organized several events - art exhibitions and performing arts shows - showcasing the creativity of her students. Avidly interested in artistic culture (music, contemporary art, contemporary dance, technological arts), her life in Montreal has been a fertile breeding ground for her inspiration, a baggage as important as the training courses, for the richness of its content.
Approach
I'm a bit of a polymath, which means I work in several mediums. My approach is inspired by my reflections and writings on society, history and current affairs, and is transposed by sculpture, collage or digital art, into a visual message to be passed on to people, a universal language.
